Chawla Book Depot

We are at Shop No. 16 in RK Puram, Sector 3. Our shop is right opposite the Government Boys Senior Secondary School. As you can imagine, it gets very hectic when school starts and ends. Boys come in groups to buy their textbooks and registers. We also have a lot of pens and geometry boxes. It’s a small shop but we pack it full. The walls are covered in shelves from floor to ceiling. Sometimes the parents come in looking for specific uniforms or guidebooks for their kids. We’ve been in this sector for a long time and seen many classes graduate. The street is narrow so parking is a nightmare, but people still manage to find us. We have a ceiling fan that wobbles a bit, but it keeps us cool enough during the Delhi heat. It’s not a library, it’s a busy store. We don't have time for fancy talks. We just find the book you need, take the cash, and move to the next person. In the evenings, it gets a bit quieter. That’s when we restock the shelves and tidy up the mess. We know the teachers from the school across the road too. It’s a very local kind of place. We don't use computers much, mostly just paper bills and an old calculator. It’s worked for us for years, so we don't see any reason to change it. Just a regular book depot for the neighborhood kids. We show up, we sell books, and we go home.
