Ansari Road is famous for books and publishers, so it makes sense that we are located here at 4383/4B. Being in the publishing business means there’s always a lot of paper and ink moving around the office. Our space isn't anything like those big corporate buildings you see in the movies. It’s an older building, and the stairs can be a bit steep if you're carrying a heavy load of manuscripts. We spend most of our time looking at proofs or talking to printers on the phone about deadlines. There’s always a distinct smell of ink and old paper in the air here. We’ve got desks pushed up against each other and shelves that are constantly overflowing with past projects. It’s a bit chaotic at times, but we know where everything is kept. The area around here is always crowded with delivery bikes and people moving carts full of paper. Sometimes we have to wait a while just to get a shipment out the door. We don't have a lot of bells and whistles or a fancy lobby. It’s just us working through the day, trying to get things printed and bound right. Most of us have been doing this for many years, so we don't think much about the constant noise coming from the street. Lunch is usually just a quick break at the desk because there's always something else that needs checking. We aren't trying to be anything special, just a place that gets books out into the world. It’s a living.
