Down at Derawal Nagar 11, you can usually hear D X Dance Xplosion before you see it. I spend most of my day in a large room with mirrors that cover an entire wall. Cleaning those mirrors is a never-ending job because there are always marks on them by the end of the day. The wooden floor is a bit worn out in the center from all the foot traffic. I usually get here in the early afternoon to get the sound system ready and make sure the place doesn't smell too much like a gym. We have a small area near the entrance where people dump their bags and shoes, and it’s usually a bit of a mess. The walls are a bit thin, so I try not to turn the music up too loud until the evening when the other businesses nearby have closed up. The cooling system is okay, but when the room is full of people moving around, it still gets incredibly hot. I spend a lot of my time just managing the groups and making sure everyone knows which room they are supposed to be in. There is a small window high up that shows a bit of the street, so I can see when parents start arriving to pick up their kids. It’s a high-energy place, and by the time I turn off the lights and lock the door at night, I am usually pretty exhausted. It is a good kind of tired, though, and I enjoy the routine.
