Crafts Of India

Our office, Crafts Of India, is located at 128, Som Dutt Chambers-II in Bhikaji Cama Place. It’s a big commercial area, so there are people everywhere and the elevators are always packed. Our room is quite small for all the things we keep in it. We have shelves reaching the ceiling filled with different handmade items from all over. It’s a bit of a jumble, but we know where the brass pieces are and where the wood carvings are kept. We spend most of our time talking to artisans or packing things up to be sent out. It’s not a very quiet place because someone is always taping up a box or talking on the phone to a supplier. Being in Bhikaji Cama Place means it’s easy to get to, but parking is a nightmare. Most of us just take the metro. We’ve been here for a while now, and the office has definitely started to show its age. The carpet is worn out in the spots where we walk the most. We don't have any fancy brochures or a marketing team. We just deal in crafts that we find interesting. Some days are slow and we just reorganize the shelves, and other days we can barely keep up with the messages. It’s a modest operation, just a few people who like being surrounded by interesting things every day while we work.
