S.V.R E.M. High School

S.V.R E.M. High School is located in Zakir Hussain Nagar, which is part of the Kisan Nagar area in Nellore. The building is where we spend all our time. We start early, usually before the sun gets too hot, to get the rooms ready. In Nellore, the heat is something you just have to live with, so we make sure the windows are positioned to catch any breeze. The school doesn’t have a lot of bells and whistles. We have benches, boards, and a small area for the staff to sit and have tea. Most of the children come from the nearby houses in Kisan Nagar, so they just walk over. We know their parents and their grandparents too. It’s a very tight-knit kind of place. We don't spend money on big advertisements; we just rely on the fact that we’ve been here for years. The floors are stone and they stay relatively cool. Sometimes the plumbing gives us trouble, or we have to repaint a room after the monsoon, but we manage. It’s just a normal school for normal people in a normal part of Nellore. We do our best to keep things steady.
