Divine Light School For The Blind

Our place, Divine Light School For The Blind, is located at Post Box No 21 on Podalakur Road in the Netaji Nagar area of Nellore. It’s a specific kind of school because we work with students who have trouble seeing. Because of that, we keep the building laid out in a very predictable way. We don’t move the furniture around much because everyone needs to know exactly where things are. The halls are usually quiet, but you can hear the sound of braille typewriters or students talking as they navigate the space. We’ve been here in Netaji Nagar for a long time. The location is easy to find if you’re coming down Podalakur Road. It’s a plain building with basic rooms. We don't have any of those modern glass walls or anything. It's just brick and mortar. The staff here has been around for years and they know the routine inside and out. We spend a lot of time on practical skills that the students need for their daily lives. The Nellore sun can be quite harsh, so we try to keep the indoor areas cool with fans and open vents. It’s not a place that seeks out a lot of attention. We just focus on the work at hand. Parents come by to talk to us about how their children are getting on. We keep things direct and simple. It’s about providing a space that works for the students who come to us for their schooling.
