Shri Ratanji Ukabhai Patel Sarvajanik High School

Our school is located near the Navsari Ho. It’s a big name, Shri Ratanji Ukabhai Patel Sarvajanik High School, but everyone around here just knows us as the local high school. The building has seen many years go by in Navsari. 396445 is home for us. Every morning, you see the kids walking down the road with their heavy bags. We spend our mornings checking the attendance registers and making sure the fans are working because it gets quite hot here. The playground is mostly dirt, but the children don't seem to mind when they're playing during the break. We have a lot of old wooden desks that have been scratched up over time. It’s not a shiny new place, but it works for what we need. Sometimes the roof leaks a little in the corner of the office when it rains really hard, so we just move the files and put a bucket down. The teachers here have been around for a long time. We know the parents and we know which kids are brothers or sisters. It’s a very local thing. We don't have much time for fancy speeches or big events, we just focus on getting through the chapters in the books. The bell rings at the end of the day and the whole place empties out in minutes. Then it’s just us putting the chalk away and locking the cupboards for tomorrow.
