M M High School

M M High School has been a fixture here in Umbergaon for a long time. Being in Valsad, we get a lot of that coastal air, though it mostly just feels humid during the school year. The school itself is a simple building, nothing too modern, but it stays standing. We’ve got a lot of students coming in from the surrounding areas in the 396170 region. Every morning is the same routine, opening up the main doors and getting the hallways ready for the rush. The desks are a bit scratched up from years of use, and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint if we ever find the time. We aren’t trying to be anything we’re not. It’s just a place where local kids come to spend their day. You’ll see them playing out front or huddled in groups talking about their exams. The teachers here are mostly locals too, so everyone has a connection to the town. We spend a lot of our time just managing the small stuff, like keeping the library books in order or making sure the water coolers are filled. It’s a lot of work to keep a school going, but we just take it one day at a time. It’s not a quiet place by any means, especially during the lunch break when everyone is running around the yard. It is just our little corner of Umbergaon.
