Our place is located at Gate No. 392 in Gonde Village, over in Wadivarhe, Taluka Igatpuri. It is a bit of a drive to get out here, but we like having the space to work. Thyssenkrupp Engine Components India Pvt. Ltd. is where we put together parts for engines. It is a technical kind of job, but the way we do things is pretty down-to-earth. We have a lot of locals from Gonde and the nearby villages working on the floor. It feels more like a community than a giant factory sometimes. We deal with a lot of heavy machinery and precision tools. It’s noisy and you have to wear your gear all the time. The weather in Igatpuri can get pretty wet during the monsoon, which makes the commute a bit of a challenge, but everyone shows up. We aren't into big corporate slogans or motivational posters. We just focus on the components we're making that day. There’s a lot of checking and re-checking involved because engine parts have to be exactly right. We take our breaks together and talk about the local news or what's happening in the village. It’s a practical life. We work, we fix things when they break, and we make sure the parts get shipped out to where they need to go. It’s just what we do here at the edge of the village. It's a solid job and we like the people we work with every day.
