Viveka Matriculation School

Viveka Matriculation School is located at 95 on the road that connects Mohanur, Sendamangalam, and Rasipuram. It’s a long stretch of road and there is a lot of local traffic, mostly trucks and tractors moving between the towns. The school itself sits back a bit from the main pavement. We have a large iron gate that stays shut during the day. The building is painted a light color that gets a bit dusty because of all the vehicles passing by. Inside, the rooms are quite large with high benches for the older students. We don’t have any luxury fittings or modern art on the walls. It’s just plain brick and mortar. We spend a lot of our time making sure the registers are updated and the classrooms are swept. The playground is mostly hard dirt, which gets a bit muddy when the monsoon hits. We have some trees near the boundary that give a little shade during the lunch hour. The staff usually brings their own tiffins and we sit together in the small break room. We don't have a big staff, just a few of us who have been here for years. It is a very local operation. We know the parents and we know the shops down the road. Every evening, we check the locks on every door and turn off the main switches before heading home ourselves.
