Valwillswadesi Farmers Producer Company is out in the Namakkal district. We are specifically at 2/135-1, Chettiyar Thottam in Servampatti. It’s near Chinna Manali in the Tiruchengode area. The place is mostly fields and quiet roads. We are a company formed by farmers for farmers. It’s not a fancy setup at all. We have a small office at the Thottam where we meet and talk. Valwillswadesi is the name we chose, but most people just know us as the local group. We deal with the day-to-day problems of growing things in this climate. Sometimes it’s too dry and sometimes we get lucky with the rain. We handle the selling and the buying of seeds and other things people need. It’s a lot of manual work and checking bags of produce. We don't have a website or a big marketing budget. We just talk to people face to face. My uncle helps with the accounts because he’s good with numbers. The rest of us just know the land. We’ve been in Servampatti for a long time, so we know who grows the best stuff. It’s a simple operation but it’s important for the people living around here. We just show up every morning and see what needs doing. It’s not about getting rich, it’s just about keeping the farms going for the next generation.
