We’re located over at No.2/1 in Kattuvalavu, which is part of Thasampalayam. Our focus is mainly on coconut trees and the neera we get from them. If you’ve ever been to a coconut grove, you know it’s a lot of looking up. Climbing those trees isn’t for everyone. We started Namakkal Kaveri Neera because we have so many trees around here and we wanted to do something useful with the sap. Neera is a tricky thing to handle because it ferments so fast. You have to be quick and know what you’re doing. We aren't a big industrial outfit. It’s more of a community thing. A few of us get together at the Thattangkadu spot and handle the day's collection. It’s humid and hot work. Some days the yield is good, other days it’s not. We don't use any fancy marketing talk. We just tell people it’s fresh and it’s from our trees. The equipment is basic but it gets the job done. Sometimes the harvest is slow, and we just sit and talk about the weather. It’s a typical Namakkal life. We’re just farmers trying to make the most of the coconut palms. It’s what our families have done for a long time, just now we have a proper name for the group. We don't promise anything crazy, just honest work from the grove. If you like coconuts, this is the place to be.
