M D Farms

M D Farms is out in Periyapatti, specifically at 4, Thillaipuram. It’s a quiet area, which is exactly how we like it. There’s plenty of space around us, and you can see the fields stretching out. We spend most of our time outdoors, so our office is really just a place to keep the records and escape the sun for a bit. It’s a simple room with a few chairs and a table that wobbles if you lean on it too hard. Working on a farm means our schedule depends on the sun and the rain. Some days we’re up before dawn and other days we’re still working long after it gets dark. Thillaipuram is a small community where people help each other out. We’ve got some old equipment that we keep fixing because it’s better than buying new stuff. The soil here is good, and we take care of it as best as we can. It’s a lot of manual labor, and our clothes usually have some dirt on them. We don't have any fancy slogans or goals like that. We just want to grow good things and keep the farm running for another year. Sometimes we sit on the porch in the evening and just watch the sunset. It’s a peaceful life, even if it’s hard work. We’re glad to be part of the Periyapatti landscape. It's been in the family for a while and we hope to keep it that way. Every season brings something different to do around the place. We just take it day by day.
