Sankagiri Hills Farmer Producer Company Limited

We are basically just a group of farmers from around the Sankagiri area who decided to stop working entirely on our own and start helping each other out. Our office is tucked away in the Tamil Nadu Housing Board area near Sankari RS Post. It isn't anything fancy, just a place where we sit down to talk about seeds, the weather, and how to get a fair price for what we grow in the hills. Life out here is mostly about the land. We spend most of our time in the fields and only come to the office when there is paperwork or a meeting to attend. It gets quite busy during harvest season, and sometimes we are all just trying to keep up with the work. Being part of a producer company means we can buy things in bulk and share the costs, which helps everyone. Some of us have been farming for thirty years, while others are just starting out after their fathers retired. We don’t have a big corporate team or anything like that. It is just us, the local farmers, trying to make things work in a way that makes sense for our families. You can usually find someone at the 59th unit if the lights are on. We mostly deal with the crops that grow well in this soil and try to make sure nothing goes to waste. It’s hard work and the sun is hot, but we are used to it and wouldn't change it for a city job.
