At 4/105 on Bodhamalai Road, you’ll find us working away in Vadugam. We are the Bodhamalai Farmers Producer Company, and we are lucky to be based in Rasipuram where the land has always been the main way people make a living. The road we are on leads right towards the hills, and that’s where many of our members have their plots. We aren't some fancy outfit from the city. We are just local growers who decided that we should probably start talking to each other instead of competing all the time. The office is a simple place, mostly just used for storage and for having those long conversations about why the prices are down or how to get better seeds for the next planting. We spend a lot of time outside, so the office might be locked sometimes if we are all out in the fields or at the market. People in Vadugam know where to find us if they need help with their paperwork or want to join the group. It is a slow process, building something like this, and we make mistakes like anyone else. But we are honest about what we do. We don’t have any marketing people telling us what to say, so we just tell it like it is. Farming is hard, but being part of this group makes it a little bit easier to handle the bad days and celebrate the good ones.
