Dhariti Navkrishak Farmers Producercompany Limited

Out in Kumarikata, which is part of the Nalbari district in Assam, we have this group of farmers. It’s called Dhariti Navkrishak. Subodh Barman is the one who looks after the paperwork and meetings at his place in the village. We are all neighbors here, mostly focusing on our crops and how to make ends meet. Nalbari is a nice area, very green, but the farming life is always a bit of a gamble with the weather. We started this producer company because we were tired of doing everything alone. It’s better when you have a few heads together to figure out the best way to plant and sell. We don't have a big marketing budget or fancy signs. Most people just know us by word of mouth in the village. We spend our mornings in the fields and then maybe meet up later to talk about what’s going on with the market prices.
