Diya Marbles

Diya Marbles is located at Plot No. 66 near the Gangabai Ghat Square. We are right by the Baba Nank School, so we get to hear the school bell go off throughout the day. It’s a big open plot where we keep all the stone. Working with marble means you are always outdoors or in a semi-open shed. We get the full force of the heat in the summer and the rain in the monsoon. It's not a comfortable office job, that’s for sure. We spend most of our time moving heavy pieces of stone around. We use old equipment that sometimes needs a bit of a kick to start, but it gets the job done. We aren't a fancy company with big advertisements. Most people find us just by driving past the square. We have a small desk under a tin roof where we do the paperwork. It gets quite hot under there. We’ve been here at this location for a while, and we’ve seen the school grow and the traffic at the square get heavier. We don't try to impress anyone with big words. We just show them the marble we have and tell them the price. If it works for them, great. If not, that’s okay too. We are just honest people doing a tough job. It’s dusty and loud, but it is our daily life. We wouldn't know what to do with ourselves in a quiet office anyway.
