Anup Engineering Works

Anup Engineering Works sits on Plot No. 5 in Gopal Krishna Nagar. We are right by the Wathoda Ring Road, so the location is pretty easy to describe to anyone coming from out of town. The sound of the traffic on the Ring Road is something you just get used to after a week of working here. Our building is a simple structure with a high roof to keep the heat from getting too trapped during the summer months. Inside, the space is mostly taken up by the heavy machinery and benches we use for our daily tasks. There’s usually a bit of a mess around—scraps of metal, toolboxes left open, and old blueprints lying around. We aren't trying to win any beauty contests with the shop floor; we just need it to be functional for the work we do. In the mornings, we pull up the shutters and let the light in, which helps since the bulbs inside aren't the brightest. We’ve got a couple of fans that wobble a bit but they do the job. Usually, the neighbors from the other plots stop by if they need to borrow a tool or just want to see what we are busy with. It’s a basic setup where the days are long and the work is physical, but we’ve been here long enough that it feels like home.
