Sree Pragnaa Gurukula

Sree Pragnaa Gurukula is out in Kanchanahalli Village. It is a quiet area near Bannur, not too far from Mysore but far enough that you feel the countryside. We set things up here because it seemed like a good place for a school away from the city noise. The village life is slow and that suits the way we do things here. We have some basic buildings and a bit of land around us for the kids. It’s not a polished institution with a lot of rules and red tape. We are just a group of people trying to run a school in a simpler way. The students come from the surrounding villages mostly, and they walk or bike here. We spend a lot of time outdoors when the weather is nice. In the rainy season, we huddle inside the classrooms and listen to the rain on the roof. The rooms are plain, just desks and boards and some old books. We don't have fancy computer labs or anything like that yet. It’s about the basics here. We know the parents and they know us. Sometimes someone brings some fruit from their farm for the teachers to share during the break. It’s that kind of place. We don’t have a website with a lot of moving parts or photos.
