La Petite France

Gokulam is a pretty quiet part of Mysore compared to the city center. Our place, La Petite France, is tucked away on the 9th Cross, near the 4th Main. Most people know the area because of Doctor Corner, which is just a short walk away. We’ve been here for a bit now, and we’ve gotten used to the pace of life in this neighborhood. It’s mostly residential, so we see the same people walking their dogs or heading out for groceries every morning. The shop itself is small. We don't have a lot of room for big displays, so we keep things fairly simple. Sometimes the power goes out, which is common around here, and we just have to wait it out with some candles or just sit and talk. It’s not a polished, high-end establishment. We’ve got some mismatched chairs and the paint is peeling a little bit in the corners, but it feels lived-in. We do all the work ourselves, from sweeping the front step to checking the inventory at night. Mysore has a way of making you slow down, and we’ve definitely embraced that here. We don’t rush people out the door. If you want to sit for an hour, that’s fine with us. It’s just a regular local business trying to stay afloat and provide something decent for the folks living nearby.
