Hyderabadi Biriyani House

We are based on the ground floor of the More Super Market in Vijaynagar 4th Stage, right at Sangam Circle in Mysore. It’s a pretty busy corner, especially on the weekends when everyone is out doing their grocery shopping in the CK Complex. Our shop is in the B Block. Mysore is usually a bit quieter than other cities, but this specific area stays active most of the day. We spend our days managing the big pots of biryani. There is a specific way we handle the rice and the meat, and it takes several hours to get it to the point where it’s ready to serve. We start early, around 8 or 9 in the morning, just to be ready for the lunch crowd. The kitchen is cramped and stays very hot, but that’s where all the work happens. We aren't a big chain with fancy uniforms; we are just a small group of cooks and servers trying to do a good job. You can usually smell the spices from the parking lot of the supermarket. We have a few tables for people who want to eat here, but a lot of what we do is packing up boxes for people to take home to their families. Sometimes the dishwasher breaks or we run out of change at the till, and we just deal with it as it comes. It’s a regular local business and we like being part of the neighborhood.
