We operate inside the Regaalis Hotel on Vinob Road in Mysore. Specifically, we are in the Chamarajapuram area, which is a bit more settled and traditional than the newer parts of the city. Being inside a hotel means we follow a certain schedule, starting with the early morning shifts and staying open through the evening. The restaurant itself has a view of the hotel grounds and the street nearby. Mysore has a slower pace of life, and we try to match that. Our staff has been working here for years, and they know the regulars by name. We don’t do any big promotions or try to act like a chain. It’s just a room with tables where people come to eat. Sometimes we have guests staying at the hotel who come down for every meal, and other times we get people from the neighborhood who just want a change of scenery. The kitchen is basic and functional. We spend a lot of time just checking on the supplies and making sure everything is clean. The street outside is usually quiet, except during the festival seasons when the whole city gets busy. We just keep doing what we do every day, serving whoever walks through the door and making sure the coffee is hot. It is a quiet existence on Vinob Road and we are quite happy with that.
