Shailendra Memorial Public School is tucked away in Jagdishpuri Lane. It’s in the Mithanpura area of Muzaffarpur, specifically at No. 2. The lane is a bit narrow, so it can be a squeeze when everyone arrives at the same time. We have a gate that we lock every evening. The building has been through a few rainy seasons, so the exterior paint isn't as bright as it once was. We focus more on what happens inside the rooms anyway. We have various classrooms spread across the floors. The stairs are a bit steep. We have a lot of old registers and books piled up in the corner of the main office. It feels lived-in. Muzaffarpur 842001 is a busy place, but once you get into the lane, it quietens down a little. We have a few ceiling fans in every room that stay on all day. The teachers are mostly people from the nearby blocks. We drink our tea together during the breaks. We don't have a website with professional photos. What you see is what you get. We just try to provide a steady place for the neighborhood kids. It’s an honest living. We know the families around Mithanpura well. Most of them have been coming to us for years. We just keep doing our thing day after day. Sometimes the rain makes the lane muddy, but we still open on time.
