Jaintpur Public School

Over in Maripur, things move at a slightly different pace than in the bigger cities. Jaintpur Public School sits right in the thick of this neighborhood, and it is a very local sort of place. Most of the kids who come here live just a short walk away, so you see them wandering in through the gates in small groups every morning. The school itself is a modest setup, nothing too flashy, with a few blocks of classrooms and a small area where everyone gathers for assembly. We have a bit of a garden that we try to keep green, though the goats from the nearby houses sometimes find their way in if someone leaves the gate unlatched. The teachers here are the kind of people who have lived in Maripur for years and know everyone’s business. When it rains, the ground turns into a bit of a muddy mess, and we spend half the day telling the students to wipe their feet. The classrooms have the usual wear and tear—scuffed walls and desks that have seen better days. It is a noisy, lively environment where the sound of children laughing is never far off. We don't spend much time worrying about how things look; we are more concerned with making sure the kids understand their lessons and behave themselves. It is just a regular school doing its best for the families in our little corner of the world.
