We are located right in front of the Durga Mandir on Sadha Road here in Chapra. It's a good landmark, so nobody really gets lost looking for us. The school building has been standing for quite some time. It's a bit worn in places, but it's sturdy enough for the students. We have children coming in from all over the local area. The noise from the road and the temple can be a bit much sometimes, especially during festival season, but we’ve all gotten used to it. Inside, we have rows of wooden benches and some old cupboards for the books and records. We don't have a lot of bells and whistles or fancy computers. It’s a practical place for learning. We teach the regular classes and keep an eye on the kids during the day. The playground isn't huge, but it gets the job done for the short breaks. We deal with the usual school problems like leaky taps or finding enough chalk for the week. Most of the staff have been here for years and know the community well. We know the families and the siblings who have come through before us. Chapra can be a busy place, but once you step inside the gates, it’s just another day of schoolwork. We don't make a big deal out of things. We just open up in the morning and do our work until it's time to head home. The walls are a bit faded, but it feels like home to us.
