About G D Mother International School – Education in Muzaffarpur
The morning starts pretty early here on Akharagahat Road, usually before the sun even gets properly high in the sky. G D Mother International School has been sitting in this spot for years, and the building has seen a lot of kids grow up and move on. You can hear the rickshaws and the bikes outside our gates from the moment we open up. It is a bit noisy, but that is just how things go in this part of town. Inside, the hallways are narrow and can get a bit crowded when the bell rings for lunch. We have some old desks that have been scrawled on by generations of students, and we don't always get around to sanding them down right away. The playground gets a little dusty during the dry months, and the kids come back into class with dirt on their shoes, leaving tracks across the tiles. Our teachers are mostly locals who know the families around here, so there is a lot of chatting at the gate during pickup time. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to open all the windows to catch a breeze, which brings in the smell of the street food from nearby. It is not a fancy place with shiny glass walls, but it feels like a second home to most of us. We just try to get through the curriculum and make sure the kids are actually learning something useful before they head home for the day.
