About M.P.S. Science College – Education in Muzaffarpur
Our college is sitting right at the Gobarsahi Chowk in Muzaffarpur. If you know this area, you know exactly how busy and loud it gets around the intersection. It is a science college, so we spend a lot of our time in the laboratories. There is always that faint smell of chemicals hanging in the hallways, which you just get used to after a while. The building is a standard concrete structure that has seen a lot of heavy monsoon seasons over the years. The paint is peeling a bit near the bottom of the walls, but the structure is sturdy. We have a lot of students coming in from the surrounding villages and the town itself. The classrooms have these old wooden benches that have been carved with names and dates by students from a long time ago. It’s a bit of a local tradition by now. We try to keep the equipment in the labs working, but sometimes things break and we just have to wait for the repairman to show up. The staff room is small and usually smells like old books and wet tea leaves. We aren't trying to be anything other than a simple place for science education. It involves a lot of lectures, handwritten notes, and practical exams. Sometimes the ceiling fans stop working when it is 40 degrees outside, and we just have to deal with it. It’s what we do here at the Chowk for the local community.
