About Young Art And Photo Frames – Gifts in Mumbai
We run Young Art And Photo Frames out of the Shetty Compound in Bandra. It’s a bit tucked away, but once you find us, it’s a very creative little spot. The whole place smells like wood shavings and glue most of the time. We have been framing pictures and art for the local community for a long time. Bandra is a fast-moving area, but inside the compound, things feel a bit slower and more focused. We have stacks of different frame moldings leaning against the walls. There is glass everywhere, so we have to be very careful where we step. I usually have a pencil behind my ear and a measuring tape in my hand. It’s not a clean job; our clothes usually have bits of sawdust on them by the end of the day. We don't have a fancy showroom. People just bring in their photos or paintings, and we talk about what might look good. It’s very hands-on work. Sometimes we get really old photos that are falling apart, and we have to be extra gentle. We don't do any big promotions. People just know we are here in the compound. It’s a good life, working with our hands and seeing the finished frames go out. The neighbors are mostly other workshops, so there is always the sound of hammering nearby.
