Yemkay's Shoes Mart

You can find us over at No. 24 in the Reheman Building. We’re in Shop No. 30, right on V. N. Road. It’s a busy area because we are directly opposite the Tata Docomo office and the Bata shop near Flora Fountain. There’s always people moving around outside, especially during the lunch hour. Our shop is a bit small, but we managed to fit all the shoes in there somehow. Being near the fountain means there’s always something happening. We spend a lot of time just standing at the door watching the cars go by. Yemkay's Shoes Mart is just a regular shoe shop. We don’t have any fancy displays or big lights. It’s just boxes of shoes and some benches for people to sit on. The building itself is quite old and has that specific smell of old stone and dust. We get a lot of people who are just passing through the area for work. Sometimes they stop in because they need something quickly. It can get a bit loud with all the honking and the buses, but you get used to it after a week or two. We just keep the shop open and wait for whoever needs new footwear. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting boxes and making sure the sizes are all in the right place. We stay late most nights to get everything ready for the next morning. Sometimes the street lights flicker, but we just keep working until the job is done.
