Empire Shoe Co. is found at 199 and 221 Kambekar Street. We are right beside the Zakariya Masjid Gate in Mumbai-3. This area is one of the oldest and busiest parts of the city. The streets are narrow and always packed with people, handcarts, and bikes. We have been here for a long time, selling all kinds of footwear. Our shop is filled from floor to ceiling with boxes of shoes, sandals, and slippers. It is a bit of a squeeze when more than three people come in at once. Being so close to the masjid means we see a lot of foot traffic, especially during prayer times. You can always hear the azaan and the general roar of the market outside. We do not have any big advertisements. The shoes in the window and the word of mouth from people who live around here are enough. The shop has that old-school feel with wooden shelves and a small stool for people to sit on while they try things on. It is a bit dusty because of the open street, but we try to keep it tidy. Sometimes we just sit outside on a plastic chair when it is quiet and watch the world go by. It is a simple business, selling shoes to people who need to walk these busy streets.
