Veja Industries

We’ve been here at Champaklal Industrial Estate in Slon East for a good while now. It's unit 232 if you're looking for us, right in the thick of things. The workshop usually gets started pretty early because that's when it’s coolest, though Slon East is always a bit noisy with the traffic and the other units running their machines nearby. Veja Industries isn’t a huge operation, just a handful of us making sure the work gets out the door. Some days the floor is a mess with offcuts and metal bits, but that’s just how it goes when you’re busy. My father used to say you can’t get anything done without making a bit of a racket. Most people find us through word of mouth or just by being around the estate. We don't have a fancy lobby or anything like that. Just a desk with too many papers on it and the smell of grease and cutting oil. Sometimes the power acts up or the deliveries are late, which can be frustrating when you have a deadline. We just keep our heads down and handle whatever comes our way. It's decent work, even if the commute through Mumbai traffic is a headache every morning. We know the neighbors well and we all kind of look out for each other on this floor. If you walk past, you'll probably hear the machines humming away. That’s just the daily routine for us and we're used to it.
