I’ve been sitting here at Shop Number 3 in Padri Chawl for a good while now. It is right in Andheri East, right across from Vijay Society if you know where that is. The area gets pretty busy, especially with all the people moving around Sambhaj. We just handle packages and paperwork mostly. It isn’t some fancy office with glass walls or anything like that. It’s a small space where we keep things moving. Most days, it is just about sorting through boxes and making sure the labels are stuck on right. Sometimes the fan makes a bit of noise, but we get used to it after an hour or two. People come in and out all day asking about their stuff. Some are in a hurry, others just want to chat for a minute. We try to keep things organized on the shelves, but when a big load comes in, it gets a bit crowded. Andheri is always noisy, so the sound of the traffic outside is just part of the background here. It’s a simple setup. We’ve got the counter, some chairs, and plenty of tape rolls lying around. It’s been our spot for a long time. Nothing too complicated about it. We just show up, open the shutters, and start the work. It’s honest work, and we know most of the neighbors by now. That’s just how it goes here in the Chawl. It is just life in the city.
