United Filmmakers

Our base is in Nusrat Apartment, which is over in Andheri West near Manek Moti Society. Andheri West is obviously a huge hub for anything related to films, and we are right in the middle of it. United Filmmakers is a small setup; we don't have a giant studio or a lot of equipment just sitting around. Most of our work happens on computers or out on location somewhere. The apartment serves as our home base where we meet and talk about different projects. It’s a bit lived-in, with cables and hard drives scattered about the tables. We don't put on airs about being a big production house. We just like telling stories and getting things filmed. Sometimes the place is empty because everyone is out shooting, and other times it's full of people arguing over an edit. Being near Manek Moti Society makes it easy for people to find us. It’s a regular residential building, so it doesn't feel like a corporate office at all. We prefer it that way. It’s more relaxed and lets us focus on the actual work instead of the business side of things. We’ve been here long enough that the neighbors know who we are and what we do. It’s a practical space for a group of people who just want to get their movies made. We often work late into the night when we have a deadline, drinking a lot of tea.
