Toyo Engineering

Toyo Engineering is based in Mumbai, specifically at Domnic D'Mello Chawl in Vidyavihar. It is a very traditional Mumbai setup. The space is small, and we are right there in the middle of a busy residential and commercial mix. Being in a chawl means you are never lonely; there is always someone passing by or some noise from the neighbors. It’s a real, living part of the city. We have our office in units 2 and 3. It’s a bit of a squeeze when everyone is in at the same time, but we make it work. We have been here for a long time, and the locals all know us. We do engineering work, mostly involving plans and technical documents. It’s dusty and sometimes the rain leaks in a bit during the monsoon, but we have our ways of keeping the papers dry. We don't have an HR department or a PR person. It’s just a few of us doing the work. We drink a lot of cutting chai from the stall downstairs. It’s the kind of place where you just get your hands dirty and get the job done. We don't pretend to be anything we aren't. We are just a local engineering firm in Vidyavihar trying to keep the business running. It's not a glamorous office with a view of the ocean, but it’s our place and we are comfortable here. We just handle the projects as they come in.
