Tina Sweet & Farsan

Out here in the Kudalwadi area of Powai, on the Telco Chikhli Road, things are pretty industrial and fast-paced. Our shop, Tina Sweet & Farsan, covers shops 11 to 13 near the Adi Shankaracharya Marg. We start our work very early, long before most people are even awake. You can smell the frying oil and the sugar syrup from down the street. We make all the usual stuff—samosas, dhoklas, jalebis, and a big variety of dry farsan. It’s a busy spot because workers from the nearby factories and offices stop by for a quick bite or to take some snacks home for their families. The kitchen is always hot and noisy, with the sound of scrapers on the big iron pans and the chatter of the staff. We don’t have a fancy seating area; it’s more of a place where you come, get what you want, and move on. We spend our days weighing out packets of sev and filling boxes with sweets for festivals. It’s a lot of standing on our feet and dealing with the rush hours. Sometimes we run out of the popular snacks by noon and have to quickly make another batch. We just focus on keeping the food fresh and getting the orders out to the people waiting at the counter. It’s a straightforward life, built around the smell of snacks and the daily morning rush. We are just here doing our bit to feed the local crowd and keep things moving.
