About The Indian Institute Of Architects (Iia) – Event & Planning in Mumbai
You can find us over at Prospect Chambers Annexe on Dr. D. N. Road in the Fort area. It’s one of those old buildings that has a lot of character, though the stairs can be a bit of a climb sometimes since the lift is old. Being in Fort means we are surrounded by a lot of history and other old offices. We are the main spot for architects in India to get their memberships sorted or to find out about new rules. The office is usually filled with files and old journals. It’s a busy place because there are always people coming in and out to ask questions or drop off documents. We don't have a lot of modern decor, it’s mostly just wooden shelves and old desks that have seen a lot of use over the years. The light coming through the high windows in the afternoon is actually quite nice. We try to keep everything organized, but with so many architects and students reaching out, there is always something to do. Usually, someone is making tea in the back room for the staff. We handle a lot of the administrative side of things for the profession. It’s not a fancy life, but it’s important work for the people in our field. Sometimes the street noise from the main road is loud, but that is just part of being in this part of Mumbai. We’ve been here a long time and the building feels like a second home to the team.
