The Happy Chocolate Compnay

We are tucked away in Chembur, over at Panchatara Nagar in Lav Kush Apartment. Specifically D/2. It’s a residential area, so it’s mostly families living around us. The Happy Chocolate Compnay isn't some big factory. It’s really just us in a small space making things by hand. The kitchen gets really warm when we are melting the chocolate down. We have to keep the windows closed sometimes so the dust from the street doesn't come in. Sindh is a nice part of Chembur to be in, even if it gets a bit crowded. We spend a lot of our time just wrapping things in foil and putting them into boxes. My hands are usually covered in some sort of cocoa powder by noon. We don't have a storefront where you can just walk in and browse. It’s more of a place where we get work done and people pick up their orders. We started doing this because we had some extra time and liked the smell of it. Now it’s just our daily routine. Sometimes the neighbors come by because they can smell the chocolate from the hallway. We give them some pieces that didn't turn out quite right. It’s a quiet life for the most part. We just keep our heads down and do the work. The apartment isn't big, but it’s enough for what we need to do right now. We just focus on the next batch and hope the weather stays cool enough for the chocolate.
