Thakkar Sweets

You can find Thakkar Sweets at Sujata Mansion in Andheri West, specifically at Shop No 3 and 4. The place is spread across two units joined together, so we have a bit more space for the counters. They are long and filled with trays of different sweets we make throughout the week. It’s a busy part of Andheri, near Pirangut Tal, and there is always something going on outside on the street. We spend a lot of our time arranging the displays so they look decent and cleaning the glass because people are always leaning on it. The staff is just a few local guys who know how things work here. During festival times, the place gets absolutely packed and we barely have room to move around behind the counter. We usually end up working late into the night to keep up with everything. The floor is a bit uneven in places and the ceiling fans have been there since we opened, but they still give a good breeze. We don't really have a fancy office or anything; we just handle everything from the small desk in the corner. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting heavy containers and stirring big pots of milk for hours. We’ve been in Sujata Mansion for a long time now and the regulars know exactly what they want before they even walk in. It’s just a straightforward sweet shop, doing what we’ve always done. It’s a living.
