Working here at Tata Consultancy Services is quite different from the small shops nearby. Even though our specific address is not listed clearly, we have a big presence. It is a large office environment with lots of desks and computers everywhere. The hum of the air conditioning is the main sound you hear all day. We spend most of our time staring at screens, writing code, or sitting in long meetings. It is a lot of brain work and sitting in one spot. We have a cafeteria where everyone gathers for lunch, and that is usually when it gets loud. The coffee machine is probably the most used piece of equipment in the whole building. We are not like the local tent houses or shops where things are physically demanding; our stress comes from deadlines and technical bugs. It is a very structured way of working. Everything has a process and a form to fill out. Sometimes it feels a bit repetitive, but there is a certain comfort in the routine. We do not really interact with the street outside as much as the local vendors do. We are mostly tucked away in our own world of data and software. Even without a specific street number to give people, we are always busy. It is a massive operation, and we are just small parts of the machine, trying to keep things running smoothly for the clients. It is just a regular corporate job, really.
