It’s a very busy part of town, especially being so close to the cigarette factory. You can usually tell where you are by the smells and the sounds of the machinery nearby. Our space is just a basic ground-floor setup because we are always moving boxes and heavy parcels in and out. It wouldn't make sense to be up high when you have cargo to deal with. The chawl has a lot of history and there are always neighbors moving about, which is nice. We spend most of our time labeling things, checking schedules, and making sure the trucks are on time. It gets dusty, especially with the road right there, but that is just part of the job. We don’t have a fancy reception area or anything. Just a counter and some space to stack the deliveries. The fans are always running to keep the air moving. It’s honest work and we stay busy from morning until late evening. Sometimes the traffic on Datta Mandir Road makes things a bit slow, but we manage to get things where they need to go. It’s just us here, working hard in a small corner of Andheri.
