Our office is located in Room Number 12 of the Malad Ashok Premise, which is part of a CHS on Daftary Road in Malad East. It is a pretty standard setup for this part of Mumbai, nothing too fancy or out of the ordinary. We have been working from this same spot for quite a bit of time now and have gotten used to the rhythm of the neighborhood. Being near the station means there is always a lot of foot traffic and noise, but it makes it easy for us to get to work in the mornings. We mostly spend our days dealing with various gems, which involves a lot of sitting at the desks and looking closely at things. The space is a bit tight with all our equipment and the files we have to keep, but it serves its purpose well enough. We don't really have a big staff, so everyone knows exactly what needs to be done. Sometimes the electricity goes out for a bit, but we just wait it out or work by the window light. It is a very practical way of doing things. We know the other people in the building and everyone kind of looks out for each other. We do not spend much time on things like decorating or making the place look polished. It is just a working office where we focus on the stones and the paperwork that comes with them. That is basically our daily life here in Malad.
