Suneeta Badle Architect

My office is tucked away in Malad East, specifically in Kurar Village. It’s a place called Gouri Niwas in Kokani Pada. If you know Mumbai, you know Kurar is a very crowded and lively area. The office is just a simple room in a residential society. It’s not the kind of place you’d see in a magazine. It is just a workspace where I can sit and work on my architectural drawings. I have been here for a while, and the neighbors all know me. There isn't any big staff or a receptionist at the front. It’s mostly just me and maybe an assistant or two depending on how much work there is. I spend a lot of time dealing with the local municipal office and trying to get plans cleared. It’s a lot of paperwork and back-and-forth. The streets outside are always noisy with rickshaws and people, but once I’m inside, I just focus on the computer screen. I don't use any fancy words to describe what I do. I just draw buildings and help people get their homes sorted out. It’s a practical business and I try to keep it that way. No big claims or shiny posters on the walls. Just a desk, a chair, and a lot of work to get through every week. That is how it goes here in Malad. It is just a regular job and I do my best with every drawing I finish.
