You can find us at 411 - B in the Sussex Industrial Estate, right on Dadaji Kondeo X Lane in Byculla. It is a bit of a maze back here with all the different units and trucks coming in and out at all hours. We have been making shoes at Start Rite Shoes Pvt. Ltd. for years now, and the workshop is almost always noisy. Between the machines running and people shouting to be heard, it is a very active place to spend a day. It is not the quietest spot to work, but it is where the actual making happens. We focus on getting the shoes put together right, without worrying too much about how the front office looks to visitors. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, and there are usually leather scraps and thread on the floor, but that is how a factory is. Byculla has that old industrial feel that suits us just fine. Most of the staff live nearby and have been with the company for a long time. We do not have a fancy showroom here, just the production line and some boxes waiting to be picked up by the transport guys. If you come through the lane, you will hear the hammers and stitchers before you even see our door. It is a busy, cramped space but it works for what we need. We just put the pieces together, pack them up, and move on.
