Standard Minerals

We are tucked away on the second floor of the Gaya Building. Our office is number 8 at 109 Yusuf Maherali Road. The stairs are quite steep and there is no lift, so it’s a bit of a climb every time we come into work. We deal in minerals here at Standard Minerals, but we mostly handle the administrative and sales side of things. Since we are in an office building, we spend most of our time on the phone or writing out long invoices. The street downstairs is incredibly busy, always filled with handcarts, delivery vans, and people rushing around. It’s a very old part of the city with a lot of history. Our office has some big windows, but they mostly look out at the grey walls of the other buildings nearby. We have been in this same spot for many years. The walls could really use a fresh coat of paint, and the old ceiling fan makes a strange clicking sound, but this place feels like home to us. We handle orders for different types of minerals and coordinate everything with the sites where they are actually dug out of the ground. It involves a lot of tedious paperwork and filing. We aren't a big corporation with hundreds of staff members. There are just four of us working in this small room. We drink a lot of tea while we work through the day. It’s a steady business and we just try to keep the logistics running as best as we can.
