Standard Kite Store Fireworks

In Bandra West, over on 8th Main Road, we’ve got our little shop. It’s called Standard Kite Store Fireworks, and it’s been at this 3rd Stage location for quite some time. The shop changes depending on the time of year. During the kite season, the whole place is full of colored paper and bamboo sticks. We have to be careful with the wind so things don’t fly away. Then when the festivals come around, we stock up on the crackers and sparklers. It’s a lot of work moving the stock around and making sure everything is stored safely in the back. The address is number 9, right near W O C Rd, but most people just look for the bright kites hanging outside. We don’t have a fancy showroom. It’s just a practical space with a lot of history. Some of the older men in the neighborhood still come in to talk about how the kites used to be made back in the day. We listen while we tie up bundles or pack orders for the kids. It gets loud and messy sometimes, especially when it’s busy. We don’t really do any big marketing. Word of mouth works just fine around here. People know if they want something for a celebration, they can just walk down the 4th Cross and find us. It’s a simple business but it keeps us busy all year long. The seasons keep us on our toes and the inventory changes fast depending on what's happening.
