Sri Krishna Sweets

Sri Krishna Sweets is located at Chembur 27th Cross 1/A 1/B. The work here starts way before the sun is up. The big pots for the milk need to be cleaned and ready by five in the morning. Chembur 27th Cross is a busy intersection, so there’s always the sound of horns and engines in the background. Our shop at 1/A 1/B has been part of this neighborhood for a while now. We don't use fancy machines for everything; a lot of it is still done by hand with big wooden paddles. It’s hot and sweaty work, especially when the sugar syrup is boiling on the stove. We have to be careful with the measurements because if things go wrong, we have to throw the whole batch out. We don't have a PR department or a corporate office. It’s just us in the kitchen and at the counter. During the festival seasons, we barely sleep because the demand is so high and the orders pile up. The floor gets a bit sticky no matter how many times we mop it during the shift. People come from all over the local area to get their bags filled with whatever we have ready. We don't do much in the way of decoration. We just have the glass cases and the scales. We know the neighbors and the local shopkeepers. It’s a community thing. We just keep our heads down and do the work.
