If you find yourself in Krishna Nagar, you’ll see us at Shop No 12. We are right across from the Saraswat Co Operative Bank, which is a big landmark for people around here. Borivali West can be a bit of a maze, and Nalasopara is always moving, but our little corner at Society Chemist stays pretty steady. Being a chemist means we see all sorts of people coming in with their prescriptions or just looking for a band-aid or some soap. We open early because that is when people are heading to the bank or catching the train. It is a simple shop, nothing too modern, just shelves full of whatever the neighborhood needs. We know most of the people who walk through the door by their first names. Sometimes they just come in to ask for directions or to get a glass of water while they wait for their medicines. It gets busy in the evenings when everyone is coming home from work and remembers they forgot something. The fans keep the place cool enough, and we just keep things moving along. It is a good spot to be in because you see the whole life of the community from behind the counter. We try to keep things organized, but on a busy Monday, the piles of boxes can get a bit high. That is just how it goes in a local shop like this one. We stay until the last customer leaves.
