Alfa Chemika

Alfa Chemika is tucked away in the Rimson Estate, right on Chincholi Bunder Road in Malad West. Being on the second floor at unit 203, we get a bit of a breeze if the windows are open, which is nice given how crowded this part of Mumbai feels. Most of our day is spent dealing with chemical supplies and making sure the orders are packed right. It's a lot of inventory management. The Link Road traffic is always a nightmare, so we tell everyone to plan their visits carefully. We have been in this building for quite some time now. It’s not a shiny new office park, just a regular industrial estate where people actually work. We've got shelves stacked with all sorts of things and the smell of the warehouse is just something you get used to after a week. Sometimes the lift breaks down, so we end up carrying boxes up the stairs, which is quite the workout. Our team is small, just a handful of us who know where everything is kept. We don't do much advertising; most people find us because they need something specific for their lab or factory. It gets noisy with the traffic outside and the other units working, but that is just life in Malad. We keep our logs by hand mostly because it feels more reliable than the old computer we have in the corner. We usually drink our tea around four in the afternoon and talk about the day's work.
