We opened up here on Parel Nizampura Main Road quite a few years back. It’s a busy spot and we try to keep things moving. Every morning the first thing we do is start the big frying pans for the farsan. You can smell the besan and the spices all the way down the street. It’s a lot of work getting everything ready before the morning rush starts. People stop by on their way to work to grab a packet of something crunchy or some sweets for their family. We have the usual stuff like gathiya and laddoos sitting in the glass cases. Sometimes the shop gets really crowded and it’s hard to hear over the traffic outside. We just keep bagging things up as fast as we can. The shelves are always being refilled because things go pretty quick. We don’t have fancy decorations or anything. It’s just the counters, the scales, and the food. Sometimes a customer will stay and chat for a minute but usually everyone is in a hurry. We know most of the people who live around here since they come in every week. It’s a simple business. We just make the snacks, put them out, and hope people like what they buy. There’s always a bit of flour on the floor by noon and the staff is usually busy cleaning or packing. That’s just how it goes here every day.
