Operating out of Kurla West, specifically at Kawli Wadi S.K.bole Road, we run a courier business. It is a very busy spot and the traffic around here is usually quite bad, which makes our job a bit of a challenge every single day. Our office is mostly just a place to sort piles of envelopes and boxes before they go back out for delivery. We have a few bikes and a lot of bags. On rainy days, everything becomes twice as hard because we have to make sure nothing gets wet or damaged. We don't have a fancy tracking system like the global companies do. We mostly rely on our memory and the handwritten logs we keep on the desk. It’s a bit old-fashioned, but it works for the local deliveries we handle. The space is often cluttered with packages waiting to be picked up by the drivers. We drink a lot of tea to stay awake during the long shifts. Sometimes a delivery gets delayed because of a flat tire or a blocked road, and we just have to deal with it as it happens. We aren't trying to change the world; we are just trying to get a package from one side of the city to the other without losing it. It’s a lot of physical work, lifting crates and navigating through narrow lanes. It’s just us doing what we can to keep the business running in a very crowded city. (251 words)
